Separate and Unequal "Justice" System?

Rip Torn is famous and probably has oodles of cash. I see him getting a free pass in Connecticut.

Rip Torn Seeks To Resolve Bank Break-In Case

Associated Press

LITCHFIELD (Connecticut) —

Rip Torn's attorney says they're talking with prosecutors about ways to resolve charges that the 79-year-old actor broke into a Connecticut bank.

Torn is due to appear Friday in Litchfield Superior Court. Police accuse him of breaking into a bank in Salisbury after hours on Jan. 29 while drunk and carrying a loaded gun, thinking it was his home.

He has pleaded not guilty to trespassing, carrying a weapon while intoxicated and other charges.

His attorney, A. Thomas Waterfall, says they're exploring whether Torn qualifies for a form of probation available to first-time, nonviolent offenders.

Waterfall says avoiding prison time for the "Men in Black" actor is the top priority, and that Torn is doing well with alcohol treatment and has given up his guns.
